Why Art Belongs in Your Home

quick abstract on a sunny day 8×12

Until I did an inventory of art in our home, I did not realize I had so much! This thrilled me. Slowly, one addition at a time of collected pieces, moments, and creations led me to curate our lil’ cottage into spaces with meaning and stories. Moments to share, and subconsciously creating a feeling in our home that is uniquely David’s and mine. This is why art is important in a home.

There is a tone that is set when a painting has real paint laid by an artist, and pieces that feel extra special because they are found + recovered. They are treasures that have your eye and creative vision attached to them forever. Art is important.

Here are some thoughts on incorporating authentic art in your home and why:

  • Instant Conversation Starter
. Guests will always ask, “Where did you get that?”

  • One-of-a-Kind Vibe. No one else will have your piece. It’s uniquely yours.

  • Mood Lifter. The right piece can calm, energize, or inspire you daily.

  • Supports Real Artists. Buying original helps creatives thrive (not just algorithms).

  • Style Statement. Art finishes a space like nothing else can.

  • Emotional Connection. It’s more than decor—it’s a feeling you get every time you see it.

I hope this inspires you to seek out original art that speaks to you and that will elevate the feel of your spaces. It’s so important to express your creativity and point of view. If not for others, than for yourself.
